Permission to Tryout and Releases

PTT & Releases

As SGHA prepares for tryouts and the upcoming season, players and families are asked to review the information below regarding Permission to Tryout (PTT) requests and Releases.

These processes are governed by OWHA regulations and are intended to ensure a fair and consistent approach for all players.

Permission to Tryout (PTT) and Release requests are separate processes and are managed differently by SGHA.

All Permission to Tryout (PTT) requests must be submitted through the online form below. Email requests will not be processed.

Permission to Tryout (PTT) vs. Release

Permission to Tryout (PTT)

A PTT allows a player to attend tryouts with another OWHA association while still registered with SGHA.

  • Players are not permitted to participate in any on-ice activities with another association prior to April 14, 2026 without a valid PTT.
  • PTT requests are reviewed in accordance with SGHA policy and OWHA regulations.
  • A PTT does not release a player from SGHA.
  • Players must be in good standing, including all fees paid and equipment returned.

Release

A Release removes a player from SGHA and allows them to join another association.

  • A release may be required for players wishing to try out at levels offered within SGHA or to leave the association.
  • Players must be in good standing, including all fees paid and equipment returned.
  • Once approved, the release will be processed through the OWHA registration system.

PTT Request Process

Players requesting a PTT must complete the online request form:

  • PTT requests will be reviewed beginning April 12, 2026.
  • Requests are processed in the order they are received.
  • Please allow up to 48 hours for processing during peak periods.
  • Approved PTTs will be sent by email.
  • Players should keep a copy (digital or printed) of their approved PTT available for all tryouts.

Release Request Process

Release requests must be submitted directly to the SGHA Registrar.

  • Requests must be submitted in writing.
  • Requests must include:
    • Player’s full name and date of birth
    • Current SGHA team and division
    • Parent/guardian contact information
    • Reason for the request
    • Intended association (if applicable)
  • Players must be in good standing, including all fees paid and equipment returned.
  • Once approved, the release will be processed through the OWHA registration system.

Important Notes

  • Submitting a PTT request does not guarantee approval.
  • Requests may be submitted in advance; however, processing will not begin until April 12, 2026.
  • All players must follow OWHA regulations regarding player movement and tryouts.
  • SGHA is committed to a fair, consistent, and policy-driven process for all families.
