Educational Bursary

Stittsville Girls Hockey Association (SGHA) is pleased to announce that we will again be awarding $250 educational bursaries to graduates of the Stittsville Rockets U18 program.

The bursary will come in the form of a cheque on the player’s behalf to be used toward offsetting the costs of attendance at their post-secondary institution of choice.

All nominees must meet and provide the following criteria to be eligible:

• Must have played at least one season within SGHA
• Maintain and expect to graduate with a scholastic average of at least 75%
• Provide evidence of community service as required by their school board
• Provide a letter of reference from each of the following supporting their application:
  • Coach
  • Teammate
  • Teacher
• Players should provide an essay detailing their experience within the Rockets program and identifying the following:
  • Influential coach and why
  • Teammate they respected the most and why
  • What their time as a Rocket meant to them
  • What they plan to pursue in their post-secondary education (College or University)

All applications must be submitted by May 30 to president@sgha.ca and should include all relevant materials listed above. Selection of recipient(s) will be made by June 15th by the selection committee which is comprised of members of the SGHA Executive Committee.
